Product Innovation Sand-Filled For years synthetic putting green surfaces have been installed using several inches and layers of sand fill to make the grass fibers stand up, which causes the putting surface to become very fast. The putting surface requires periodic broom sweeping to keep the fibers upright, and water-rolling to keep the sand level. Most synthetic turf surfaces have a grain pattern that runs one way throughout the carpet, making the ball skip or hop across the grain. These sand-filled greens also need periodic sand-fill and expensive top dressing. To create the ball speed required of "tour greens," you need to fill the turf fibers with sand and top dress right up to the top of the fibers. At that point, you are putting almost entirely on sand and not the fibers. In time, the sand will settle or wash out, and your sand-filled green will become much slower. Mirage Innovation The Tour Putt Turf System doesn't need sand-fill or top dressing. The turf is designed to putt like a PGA tour green "off the shelf". The Mirage Tour-Putt Ultimate putting surface meters from 10 to 11 on the PGA stimp meter without using sand or top dressing. The Mirage Turf fibers have been manufactured to stand up naturally, and because it has no grain, the ball rolls evenly in all directions. The tips of the fibers have been bent to simulate the roll of a real bent grass green. |
